Nature Drawing Classes

Drawing plants alongside others is one of my favourite things to do. It allows me to slow down and saviour the beauty of the seasons as they unfold around me. I love giving others the chance to do the same. Sometimes I take plants out into community, sometimes the community come here to my garden, and there have even been times that we’ve gathered online to draw!

Drawing from the Fall Garden
(Oxygen Art Centre, September 2025)

This late season session provided us a lovely selection of flowers, fruit and vegetable to observe and enjoy; everything gathered in the morning from my garden. A fun part of the process for me is that time spent walking quietly through the garden, gathering beautiful things, then artfully displaying them at the venue. This year I had the idea to create some mini plinths! This allowed me to better display these natural works of art.

The plinths really helped me showcase the subjects, here a strawberry plant and its runners.

Walking around the classroom to see other peoples’ drawings is a highlight!

So nice to see folks enjoying drawing together.

Oxygen Education Open House

I was invited to facilitate some nature drawing at Oxygen’s open house. I brought some beautiful friends from the garden, displayed them simply, provided some basic drawing materials and paper. The community seemed to really enjoy it all!

This amazing little artist!

Nature Still Life Drawing at Oxygen (June 2024)

It was such a treat to host Nature Still Life drawing at @oxygen.art.centre and share my love of drawing and plants from my garden. The rhubarb, bok choi in bloom, and so many others flower friends were in fine form that day! I’m grateful to Natasha and Julia for the opportunity to share this inspiration, and to the good folks who took the time to join me for a couple hours that day 💛
